April recap and May goals

Well, I did it.  I survived not only April but the A to Z Blogging Challenge as well.  The challenge was...well, challenging, but I enjoyed it a lot.  It was nice to get into the habit of blogging every day, and now hopefully I can keep that habit up - maybe not every day, but at least a few times a week.
This cute, fun award was given by Elizabeth Mueller to everyone who finished the challenge - thanks Elizabeth!

I didn't do great with my April goals, so I really have to buckle down for May.  I did do all 26 days of the A-Z challenge and I got my 10,000 words for my novel which I feel great about.  I had a goal to read at least 3 books, and I read 8 (which is amazing for me because I'm a really slow reader).  I also got the short story fixed up that I wanted to send to an anthology and got it sent, but I didn't work on any others, like I had planned to.  Where I really failed: I had planned to write at least 15 articles for the HubPages April writing contest but I only got 6 done.  I was going to work hard at my journey to better health, but completely failed there. *sigh*

I think I took on too much for April and I'm going to try not to make that same mistake in May.  I'm going to set myself up for success instead of failure.
MAY GOALS
*I'm currently at Chapter 10 in the re-write of my novel and have 6 chapters left to go, plus I need to go back and add a chapter near the beginning.  I want to get completely through the first re-write by the end of May.
*Write at least 5 articles.
*Read at least 4 books.
*Get back on track with my healthy eating and workouts.

That's it.  Not too complicated, right?  Ambitious, but not overly ambitious.

What are some of your goals for May?  Do you think setting goals helps you get more accomplished?

  1. I think your April was productive even if you didn't meet all your goals. May...ambitious. Good luck with the re-write.

My goals for May are to keep my sanity. My in-laws are staying with us for 4 weeks. Though I love them dearly, it can be hard work at time. They are old and my father-in-law has dementia. I don't think I'll get much writing done this month, on my blog or my other projects. But there's always mid-June and summer vacation. :-)

  2. Thank you Linda!

4 weeks, yikes! I can imagine they'd be hard work, especially with your father-in-law having dementia, they're a real care. Hopefully you'll be able to sneak some writing in at times, and by the time you're able to get back to it, I hope you have so many ideas stored up that the words just fly from your fingertips! ;-)

  3. Odd though it may seem, I'm still trying to get through all of the A to Zers to say congratulations for finishing. I keep discovering bloggers I didn't get to before and that brings me here. Thanks for being a part of the A to Z Challenge.
