Tune in Tuesday Week 5 - Soundtrack Edition: Rattle and Hum

Tune in Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by Ginger at GReads that showcases music.  Music for me is right up there with reading and writing, so even though this particular meme isn't about reading and writing, I thought it would be a fun one to participate in. If you're interested in participating, be sure to check out Ginger's blog so you can spread your love of music!

I really can't believe I didn't think of this last week. If you've been coming by for Tune in Tuesday, or if you've read my blog regularly, you'll know I'm a U2 fanatic and will use pretty much any excuse to talk about my favorite band. So how did I not think of Rattle and Hum last week for the first installment of Soundtrack Edition? Talk about falling down on the job.

Anyway, for those of you who don't know, Rattle and Hum is a documentary that U2 did in the late 80s. Rattle and Hum was the album they released between Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby, and the band were really getting into American music, experimenting with blues, R&B and a lot of different sounds. This movie shows interviews with the band members, clips from live shows, and great behind-the-scenes stuff that any true fan would probably love to see.

Rattle and Hum the album isn't a favorite for many people - it's not my favorite, but some of my favorite songs are on it, so I listen to it often, and I've watched the movie more times than I can count. One of my favorites off the movie is the live performance for With or Without You. This song is actually from The Joshua Tree, but I love it, and I love this part of the movie...the whole movie is in black and white except for With or Without You, so it's a striking contract. I also like it because Bono's so freaking pretty lol...in this movie, he was the age I am now...ask me how badly I wish I had a time machine. *sigh*

U2 lyric of the week:

"See the sun rise over her skin
She feels like water in my hand
Freeway like a river cuts through this land
Into the side of love
Like a burning spear
And the poison rain
Brings a flood of fear
Through the ghost-ranch hills
Death valley waters
In the towers of steel
Belief goes on and on"
