Top 10 Tuesday: Dust collectors on my bookshelf

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. It was created because of their love of lists and books, and since I love those things too, I thought it'd be a fun meme to participate in!

Top Ten Books That Have Been On My Shelf For The Longest But I've Never Read

I hate to admit this, but the majority of the books on my bookshelves that have gone unread are classics. Probably at least 3/4 of my unread books, in fact. That was part of why I joined the 2012 Bucket List Reading Challenge – so I can finally get some of these books read!

1. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

2. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

3. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

4. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

5. Peter Pan by JM Barrie

6. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

7. The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas

8. The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood

9. Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

10. A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens

What are some of the books that are collecting dust on your shelves?

  1. There are so many classics that I want to read, but am almost scared to try out. I only read Huck Finn because it was a school assignment, but I really liked it! Maybe I should just jump into the classics pool. You list the ones I'm hoping to read someday as well.

  2. Get the audiobook of Huck Finn from your library. It is a fabulous book to listen to read in in dialect.

  3. Jane Eyre is on my list as well, I really wish I could just read it and get it over already... but another book always ends up getting in the way! I really enjoyed The Handmaid's Tale

  4. Oh, expect a cry-fest when you get to the end of A Tale of Two Cities! That is one amazing novel right there. I've read almost all of these classics, so you're in for some amazing literature when you get to them. Good luck and have fun!

  5. Some awesome books on that list, along with a few that I'm in the same boat about so I don't yet know if they're good or not. I recommend starting with Peter Pan, just because it kind of eases you into a classics frame of mind, but that's just my opinion.

  6. Jane Eyre and Frankenstein were two of my favorites. Wuthering Heights was a little disappointing, though. Great classics list! I should read more Dickens.

  9. Give it a couple years and they'll probably all have "and zombies" versions. I found that version of Pride and Prejudice more readable.

  14. I need to get around to reading The Lord of the Rings one day, haha. I've watched all the movies but for some reason I never picked up the books. I love Jane Eyre! I hope you enjoy it when you read it. It's one of my favorite classics.
