Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Goals For 2013

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Top 10 Bookish Goals for 2013

1. Write my review as soon as I finish reading a book. I try to do this most of the time but sometimes I get sidetracked and then I go to write the review but I’ve read like 5 books since and my mind just won’t put together a proper, coherent review.

2. Read more adult books. As much as I love YA, and although I still intend to focus on it, I want to read more adult books this year. I only read a handful last year but I’d like to get back to some of my favourite authors that I stopped reading when I went on my mostly-YA kick.

3. Read more classics. Last year I read Peter Pan and reread Anne of Green Gables, but I had intended to read a bunch of classics. This year, I’d like to read at least four. I own a ton of them, now it’s time to read them!

4. Read more paranormal books (both YA and adult). I love paranormal but hardly read any last year.

5. Read the books I own. I went from not buying any books because I was so broke to buying books like an addict buys drugs. I accumulated so many it’s ridiculous(ly awesome). Now I need to slow down on the buying and actually read some of the books I own.

6. Read more ebooks. I have a Kobo and I won a Kindle last month (hurry up and get here already!), so I’d like to read more ebooks. Most of the review books I get are ebooks, and I love getting freebies and cheap ebooks, plus there are a ton of indie authors I’d like to check out who only have books available in e-format.

7. Catch up on series I started and got sidetracked from after only one or two books (Vampire Academy, Morganville Vampires, just to name two of the many). Also when starting new series, if there are already a lot of books out or the series is complete, read them close together so I don’t forget what’s going on.

8. Read more historic fiction, and not just waaay back in history, but any period in history (for example, The Diviners by Libba Bray and Bright Young Things by Anna Godberson, which are both set in the 1920s, and Fateful by Claudia Gray, which is set in 1912).

9. Keep up with review books! Get to all e-galleys before they expire, and read all ARCs before they’re published.

10. Reread several of my favourite books. Last year I had so many new books to read I didn’t want to ‘waste time’ rereading old books, and even though I still have a ton of new books to read, there are a lot of books that are just begging to be reread.

What are some of your bookish goals for 2013? How did you do with your 2012 goals?

  1. "I accumulated so many it’s ridiculous(ly awesome)." This made me giggle.

I think these goals are awesome! We all need to start focusing more on the books we WANT to read more than the others. That's why I want to get caught up on the requests/giveaway books, then I can focus more of my attention on others I've accumulated and REALLY want to read. :)

  2. Great list. I've been rereading favorites for the past year. Lord of the Rings is on deck for this year, along with a first read of The Hobbit. Should be fun to read in order.

I saw that you have put in time at Squidoo. Me, too. Congrats on the book. Have a great year.

  3. I really need to catch up on a LOT of series books ... that's a huge goal for me this year!

I also really love YA, but I think my main goal is to read a lot of the books I own. Of course, I'll probably end up buying more as the year goes on, but we'll see. :)

Good luck with all your goals!

  4. I want to hug your goals. They're all so awesome! I'm with you on reading adult books. I'm SO behind on all my paranormal romance series. And adult fantasy? SIGH. I haven't read anything since THE WISE MAN'S FEAR - for shame, I know. So yes, definitely with you there. :)

  7. YESS I need to stick to writing a review before I start another book (or at least... finish another book). I am SO behind... like by 23 reviews. Most aren't requested ones so I may just not review those books, but still, ugh! I also used to read quite the variety - adult, non-fic, etc and would like to get back to doing that.

I feel like this year is the YEAR of historical fiction for me, haha! SO many great sounding YA ones are being released, yippee!

Good luck on your goals Marie, and here`s hoping for a great 2013 :)
