What Happened in March

Hi guys! I hope you've all had a great March. Here's what's been happening on the blog and in my life.

BOOKS READ:
  • That Summer by Sarah Dessen
  • How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True by Sarah Strohmeyer
  • Walk Away With Me by Darby Davenport
  • The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley
  • Nantucket Blue by Leila Howland
  • White Lines by Jennifer Banash
=6 books. It was a slow reading month. Part of that was because I was finishing final edits on WAITING FOR THE STORM, and part of that was because The Winter Sea was almost 600 pages and I’m a really slow reader!

Books read so far in 2013: 26

Random House's 2013 Bingo Reading Challenge
Close to getting a Bingo here. The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley could have counted for 3 (an award-winning book, a book by a Canadian author, and a book with more than 400 pages, but I just counted it as the latter).

PERSONAL CHALLENGES:
Total books read: 26/102
Read at least 5 adult books: 11/5 - completed, surpassed goal
Read at least 2 non-fiction books: 3/2 - completed, surpassed goal
Read at least 12 ebooks: 11/12
Read at least 14 debut authors (this is different from the Debut Author Challenge because in my personal challenge I’m including adult books): 4/14
Read at least 3 historic fiction books: 1/3
Read at least 5 Canadian authors: 1/5

IN MY LIFE
I'm still healing from the bulging disc in my back. It's been a little over eight weeks, and I finally feel like I'm starting to make real progress. *knocks on wood* I'm hoping I'll be able to start going out more and living a normal life again soon!

MOVIES AND TV:
This month I’ve watched a lot of Friends (I’m partway through season 9). For those of you who don't know, Friends is my favourite show - I own all 10 seasons and I've lost count of how many times I've watched them. This is the first time in a year or two, though. I got the first season of Doctor Who from the library after everyone and their mother told me I needed to be watching this show, but I’ve only watched two episodes so far - oops! I’m going to watch the rest this coming week since I have to return it to the library next weekend. I also only managed to watch about 3-4 episodes of Supernatural this month. I finished season 4, which was quite traumatic, and got 2 episodes into season 5.

As for movies, I’ve started watching the weekly Saturday night movie on the W Network. This month’s movies:
  • The Women (meh)
  • The Switch (started out slow but ended up really enjoying it)
  • Life As We Know It (loved)
  • Burlesque (liked it a lot more than I thought I would)
Tonight’s movie is When in Rome, and I saw The 40-Year-Old Virgin was on last night so I’m hoping they’ll replay it and I can catch it because I’ve been wanting to see it for ages.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN APRIL
WAITING FOR THE STORM’s official launch is April 9th, so I’ll likely be talking quite a bit about that - sharing excerpts, playlists, and GIVEAWAYS! If you’d like to receive an e-ARC for review, please be sure to contact me. I’m going to have a huge giveaway for reviewers.

More discussion posts. Tons of reviews. More posts on my author blog. More posts on my personal blog.

I have SO MANY BOOKS I need to read in April. I’m participating in the Anna and the French Kiss read-along, and most of the rest of the books I’ll be reading are review books. I’m actually kind of stressed just thinking about the books I need to read in April. Luckily they're all titles I'm really excited about, I just hope I can manage to read them all!

A few of the reviews you can expect in April
  • White Lines by Jennifer Banash
  • How Zoe Made Her Dreams (Mostly) Come True by Sarah Strohmeyer
  • The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley
  • The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley
  • Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham
  • Ultraviolet by RJ Anderson
How was your March? Tell me below, link me up to one of your favourite posts of the month, or if you did a recap leave a link and I'll be sure to visit!

  1. I've been a LAZY blogger this month, mostly because my wrist got all buggered again. It's doing better now and I really need to pick up the pace.

On the bright side, while I didn't BLOG much, I READ a ton! 12 books and I'm reading a 13th as I type this. (Well, I have it in my hands, at least...) Whew!

I'm working on revisions for Sealer's Promise and the rough draft of my contemporary sorta in tandem. I needed to start work on something fresh. The SP revisions -- which are pretty much a re-write, honestly -- are driving me nuts since it's my third round. The contemporary is a fun distraction when the SP characters don't want to cooperate or I'm getting too stressed about it being "right" this time.

Glad to hear you're getting better. Was quite concerned about what happened to you. As far as my own TV / movie habits, I've been devouring Person Of Interest. Really been enjoying that.

Anyway, here's hoping for a great April! :D
