What's Happening + Stacking the Shelves May 25th

Hello my bookish darlings! I've got two weeks' worth of What's Happening and Stacking the Shelves to share with you. Be sure to check the top of my blog for the giveaways I have open - there are three international ones!

The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley {GoodReads}
Born of Illusion by Teri Brown {GoodReads}
My Life After Now by Jessica Verdi {GoodReads}
Lucky Bastard by Deborah Coonts {GoodReads}

Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost {GoodReads}

  • I reviewed The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley and gave it 4.5 stars
  • I reviewed Lucky Bastard by Deborah Coonts as part of the blog tour, and I’m giving away all three of Deborah’s e-novellas!

For those of you who have been following the saga of my health issues this year, I saw the doctor yesterday for what will hopefully be the last time in a long time...the tests I had to have on my heart, along with my blood tests all came back clean! *happy dances* The flutters in my chest are apparently nothing to worry about, and are fairly common in women my age. AND my back is doing much better...it's been 16.5 weeks since I hurt it and it's still not 100% but I'm so much more mobile than I was and I'm hardly in pain anymore *knocks on wood* which feels like a miracle. It's been a long year so far.

Other than that, it's been a quiet week. I was actually in all week except for yesterday, and I started writing my fourth novel! *more happy dancing* I don't really know where it's going but it's a start after feeling really unmotivated since publishing WAITING FOR THE STORM last month.

I've been watching: the season finale of Dancing With the Stars, season finale of Nashville (does anyone else watch this? None of my friends do and I LOVE it...that ending! OMG!), and my DVDs of S3 of Doctor Who (which I finished; I'll be starting S4 tonight), and S2 of Road to Avonlea.

What have you been up to lately? Happy long weekend to those of you in the States! We had our long weekend here last weekend. Anyone have any fun plans?

  1. Glad to hear all is well with your health. If you don't have that, you don't have anything. O.o

    I'm busy writing a Sealer Saga novella called "Promise Me Forever", then I'll be back to writing "Sweet Rebellion". Writing has been getting my focus this month--I've developed quite a system while I wait for my new laptop / to get my desktop fixed.

    I'm also extremely hyped about the Kindle Fire HD being announced for Canada. I've wanted one from the moment I first saw them and will likely get one by August. :) Possibly as a release gift for getting "Promise Me Forever" out, but we'll see how that goes. I made those dates before all this tech crap happened to my PC.

    I've done a ton of reading, but I haven't been doing reviewing. I think I want to rethink my review system. I am not sure it actually helps people, even though I find it interesting as a writer. Also, I feel like I'm saying the same stuff over and over, which is kinda boring.

    Gotta get the blog back up and running in June, and that's gonna be a challenge. I do NOT write and blog well at the same time. It's something I've struggled with since the beginning and it just never seems to improve.

    This summer seems like it'll be very tech and writing based for me:

    1. New laptop
    2. Getting a Samsung Galaxy Note 2
    3. Releasing "Promise Me Forever"
    4. Getting a Kindle Fire HD

    Should be pretty exciting. :)

  2. Hi Marie. Glad you're feeling better and good news on your tests :) You got some nice books this week too. The one that caught me eye was Juliet Dark's The Angel Stone. I've been wanting to read that series, but still haven't read The Demon Lover Hope to soon. Enjoy your great reads!

  3. Soooo happy the test results came back clean! <3 I knew it would be alright.

    STARTED YOUR FOURTH NOVEL?! Awesomesauce. Can't wait to hear more about that one. :)

    I haven't been up to much except getting stuff together for some online sales and some writing. I'm actually on my way out the door in a minute to get some stuff from the store. Apparently there's no food in the house. Well, there's some food, but the variety is limited. :P
