Stacking the Shelves + What's Happening June 29th

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews

Hello my lovely bookworms! I hope you've all had a great week and have been reading some awesome books and maybe even collecting a few new ones. Here's what I got this week:

FOR REVIEW:
Kiss Me in Paris by Kimberly Kinrade and Dmytry Karpov {GoodReads}

WON:

An awesome Kody Keplinger prize pack from Jen at YA Romantics
The DUFF by Kody Kelinger {GoodReads}
A Midsummer’s Nightmare by Kody Keplinger {GoodReads}
Secrets & Lies by Kody Keplinger {GoodReads}

From Tara at Hobbitses, and the lovely Emily Murdoch
If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch {GoodReads}

From Sarah at Miss Page-Turners and Mickey at I’m a Book Shark respectively
Something Like Normal by Trish Doller {GoodReads}
Girl With Guitar by Caisey Quinn {GoodReads}

BOUGHT:
Bewitching Season by Marissa Doyle {GoodReads}
Betraying Season by Marissa Doyle {GoodReads}
Losing It by Cora Carmack {GoodReads}
Faking It by Cora Carmack {GoodReads}

I got an email from Chapters/Indigo early in the week saying they’d bumped my Plum Points up so that I had $5 to redeem (which is awesome - they are so good to their customers), so I got the two Marissa Doyle books (one for $4.99 and the other for $2 from the bargain section - YA + historic + fantasy = YES PLEASE), and the owl mug (which was also on sale...I was thinking I might put a colourful little bouquet of flowers in it or maybe pens so I can put it on my desk and see it all the time).
Losing It and Faking It were on sale this week - not sure if they still are - so I grabbed them both. I've been hearing amazing things about them, but the regular price of the ebooks is out of this world and I don't usually pay more than $3.99 for ebooks, so I was psyched to get both of these for $5 (with help from one of my besties Jessica; I kept checking Amazon and the price wasn't reduced so I asked her to check, and then I sent her the money to send them to me as a gift so I didn't miss out on the sale. They never did show up with the reduced price on Amazon for me. I have no idea why. But you're a rock star Jess, thanks for the help!)

KINDLE FREEBIES:
Returned by Keeley Smith {GoodReads}
Craved by Stephanie Nelson {GoodReads}
Ember X by Jessica Sorensen {GoodReads}
Before the Fairytale: The Girl With No Name by Iscah {GoodReads}

LIBRARY:

Just One Day by Gayle Forman {GoodReads}

While I was at Chapters, I saw these two display signs:
 The first one impressed me because I've heard a lot of people say that in their local bookstore the YA section is basically lumped in with the kids' books and they're embarrassed to be seen in the kids' section. My local Chapters has the entire back wall plus several tables dedicated to YA books, and I loved seeing the sign 'Not Just for Teens' because most of the people I know who read YA are in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and older. Well done, Chapters! And the geek sign, I just liked because I am a geek lol...plus they had a Doctor Who book there, so that's a win.

*A huge thank-you to Kimberly Kinrade and Dmytry Karpov, Jen from YA Romantics, Tara from Hobbitses, Emily Murdoch, Sarah from Miss Page-Turners, Mickey from I'm a Book Shark, Chapters/Indigo for giving me extra Plum Points so I had an excuse to go shopping, and Jessica for helping me acquire the Cora Carmack books!*

Right of Way by Lauren Barnholdt {GoodReads

One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost {GoodReads}
The Boys of Summer by CJ Duggan {GoodReads}
Kiss Me in Paris by Kimberly Kinrade and Dmytry Karpov {GoodReads}

  • I talked about why I love New Adult books and think they have a valid place as a genre. There's also a huge giveaway with this post, so be sure to check it out!
  • I reviewed Crossing the Line by Katie McGarry and gave it 4 stars. This review is really lonely and needs some love, you guys. *looks at you all pleadingly*
  • I'm participating in the Canada Day Blog Hop and giving away the winner's choice of one of my three novels

How was your week? Did you get any new books? Have you read any good ones that you'd recommend? Tell me in the comments below or post a link to your Stacking the Shelves/Book Haul/In My Mailbox/Showcase Sunday, etc. Happy reading! <3
